My Fav Aussie Band 'The Vasco Era' just released their second album!

It was Falls Festival 2006 (I think) that I first heard, saw, felt and fell somewhat in love with The Vasco Era. They hit the Falls stage with presence like I had never seen in all my years of Falls, and that's every single year. You can check out their stella performance by hitting up the obvious keywords on Youtube.

I'll make one suggestions above all other, and that is to go and see these guys live first before you even consider buying their album's. It's prolonging sales I know but you'll appreciate their sound if u do.  Oh by the way, May 7th at the Republic Bar, for all of you in Tassie.

This band of three aren't ur average run of the mill Aussie muso's, choosing to have a raw individual sound that thankfully won't likely be recognised by commercial radio.  Good on them if they do reach commercial fandom but I can't emagine any of their songs playing amongst a top ten consisting of Lady Gaga's.

So their first album 'Oh we do like to be beside the sea side' carried from first song through to last like a dj compilation of the rock kind.  I don't remember there being big long pauses, and some songs carry on into the next and when it all comes to the end you just want to play it all over again.  Well I did for many months.

Now 'Lucille' drops by. Yes it took bloody long enough, couldn't they release an EP or something to tease us? Most songs have mellowed out in comparison to OWDLTBBTSS (Is that abreviated enough?) But its no turn off at all.  This is a different side of the Era and you can tell they've worked hard on Lucille.

Lucille? It's the story of some guy they met randomly who told them how his girlfriend is a stripper and its cuasing difficulty in his relationship with her. Yes I'm shit at telling the story behind any song or album.  Well one thing is for sure, some of these songs are enough to make me want to rip my clothes off and scream the lyrics out along with Sid, they're that bloody awesome.

Anyway, I'll be cranking the cd, then importing it to my ipod and listening more, then tranfering it to my work pc and listening even more.  This one isn't leaving my side too soon.

I'm hardly in a position to give a respected rating but hey I think 'Lucille' is worth:
*****
And you can buy it now from any tip top music shop.
